SUNDAY BRIEF #8 · SEPTEMBER 7–13, 2026

The CNE bows out, then TIFF and the Blue Jays keep every day Heavy

The CNE and the Canadian International Air Show close out on the holiday, so the waterfront squeeze is a one-day affair before the load moves downtown. TIFF opens Thursday around King Street West, the Blue Jays open a three-game homestand against Baltimore on Friday night, and RBC Amphitheatre has a concert six nights out of seven. Saturday stacks a Jays afternoon game, the Argonauts at BMO Field, and three evening concerts, but every day from Tuesday on holds at Heavy — the same rating as last week’s weekdays, with the Severe day landing on the holiday instead of the weekend. No Gardiner or DVP closures are announced; Highway 401 closes its westbound express lanes overnight between Port Union Road and Neilson Road on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, on top of the usual nightly ramp and lane work. TTC diverts King streetcars around King Street West between Spadina and York from Thursday morning to Monday morning for TIFF, and Line 1 has nightly early closures between St Clair and College stations Tuesday through Friday.
